Lunch and a Show

I would like to report on a restaurant Adam and I went to for lunch today. It's called Simply Sushi, it's a new sushi restaurant on 400 south and 200 East in downtown Salt Lake (apparently there is one in West Jordan as well). It's on the northeast corner of the intersection across from the Social Security Building (and if you've ever had to visit the social security building, I give my deepest sympathies because it probably wasn't a quick trip).

The restaurant is all you can eat sushi. Lunch is $15, Dinner is $20. You can purchase rolls a-la-carte, but they are from about $6-$10, so all you can eat is worth it.

I was kinda bummed at first, because during lunch you have to buy the deep fried rolls separately (you better believe I live for those rolls!). After 4pm the deep fried rolls are included in the all you can eat dinner menu. That disappointment aside, I was pleasantly surprised with the place!

The rolls were good. They had an interesting variety, and a good selection of veggie rolls (including one called Irish something that featured tempura fried sweet potato).

There were quite a few sushi chefs there, so we never had to wait long for rolls.

The best part about the whole experience is that they had three large flat screens above the sushi bar that were playing that ridiculous Japanese game show where they have to go through the insane obstacle courses. It had closed captioning in english, and I was cracking up the entire meal! I don't know if playing that show was a one time deal, but I hope it's a fixture because it was hilarious.

In other sushi news, last week I tried the sushi at a new restaurant near my home, Hibachi Grill (or something) on 700 East and 200 South. The hibachi grilled stuff looked pretty good, but the sushi was not good. In case you were wondering.

P.S. Yes, I think about sushi day in and day out. For my birthday we ate it for lunch and dinner. =)
