Nebraska sucks...

Last night was the worst night of my life! Lincoln nebraska had a marathon today so there were no available hotel rooms in the whole city. Omaha nebraska had a business conference, and some kind of basketball tournament, so there was no room at the inn... The guy I talked to at mariott said that he had been calling around and there weren't any open rooms in all of Omaha. Council bluffs iowa, which is right outside Omaha, was also completely booked. Additionally, at this time it was already 1:30am, and Adam and I were having a hard time keeping our eyes open because we left salt lake at 9am. The guy at mariott asked which direction we were headed, and after I told him we were going east, he basically told me I was doomed, and that we wouldn't be able to find anything. But "Des Moines Iowa is 2 and a half hours away, that's the only place you could try."

By this point, Adam and I were trying to plot out a way to make it look like I was with child, just so that we would fit the part of mary and joseph a little better. We didn't see any other option, so we just continued on our trip and headed toward Des Moines, in hope that there would be lodging somewhere off the highway. Luck! We found a motel 6 about 30 miles out of town in the middle of nowhere! IT WAS FULL! We back tracked a few miles and found a little po-dunk country inn and RV park. By this time it was 2:30am. The light in the office was really dim, and the note on the door said ring the bell if you need me. Adam and I both felt really bad, and didn't want to wake anybody up, so we just went back to our car. We were both so tired so I suggested that we just take a nap in our car before we decided what to do. It was the most uncomfortable, upright, cold, unrestful 'nap' I have ever taken. Adam just woke up and started the car around 5:30am (it was getting light at that point because we were in the midwest) and we continued on our journey.

We recently passed Peru Illinois. I think we're about halfway through illinois right now. Only indiana, ohio, and then all of pennsylvania to go! And we both need a shower, real bad... =)

  1. Yay! You have a blog! I am so excited for your upcoming adventures! What a fun way to keep in touch! Sorry your night in NE was such a drag...Cole and I got stuck in Winnemucca, NV once with no place to place to stay either. It's no fun! But I'm glad you were able to 'nap' then keep on going! You two really are 'Diehards'!! Have fun and keep in touch!
