Alright everyone, if you only pay attention to one of my blog posts this whole year, make it this one.
DailyCandy alerted me in January about a website called LearnVest (think: invest). This is how the website describes itself,
LearnVest is your key into the world of personal finance, providing trusted, interactive, and educational articles in a clear and approachable manner. We understand that personal finance is complicated, so we provide step-by-step checklists to help you over the hurdle for whatever your financial problem may be. We offer proprietary financial tools, a complete set of financial basics, and foster a caring and collaborative community whose goal is to provide you with access to excellent personal finance support.
We help you to help yourself in achieving your own tailored goals for your own financial future-whatever you decide that should be!
There is no cost for any of the services from LearnVest.
I signed up for LearnVest’s Financial Bootcamp at the beginning of January which is a 30-day, one email a day, get your finances in check bootcamp. The idea is that by the end of this bootcamp, you will be spending right, saving for retirement, and know exactly what is going on with your finances. You will get one email each day of the bootcamp with instructions and action items to get your finances organized. It’s designed for people in my demographic (females in their fabulous years ;)) A-mazing!
In addition, you can sign up on LearnVest’s website for their step-by-step checklists. These lists range in topics from opening a checking account, to paying for school, to finding or starting a job, and on and on. The lists are so easy to work through, and they make it easy to get on track.
I have nothing but good things to say about this website. Not only is it very well designed (logically and aesthetically), but also the information is succinct and valuable.
My only concern is that I’m not sure where they get their profits from. There is very minimal advertising on the site or in the emails. I would think that they would get funds for touting a certain bank or financial website, but from what I’ve seen so far, they are pretty unbiased in their recommendations.
The Bootcamp was so popular the last time around that they are starting it up again on February 15th. Do your wallet a favor and sign up today!
Boo. I really should do this. I REAAAAALLY should. But I'm lazy. And can't make myself even finish that Self Esteem book =\
ReplyDeleteP.S. I just signed up. Thanks Amber! It's a cute site to boot!
