Decisions, decisions

I've discovered something about myself in the last 24 hours. I don't really make decisions, I just decide. That might not make a lot of sense to you, but here's what I've realized.

When I am confronted with a choice, I usually just go with the option that seems like the obvious answer. Really, I don't even think of it as a choice.

Here's an example: I just found out last night that U2 is touring, and Black Eyed Peas is going to open for them. (BEST NEWS OF THE CENTURY right??). U2 is my all time favorite band, and it would make all my wildest dreams come true to see them in concert. (On a side note, I've decided that I'm going to sit down and have a conversation with Bono sometime. I'll let you know how it goes.) Furthermore, I am super impressed with BEP's new songs, and I've been a big fan since they came out with their first songs.

So, using this tour as an example. Since it's my wildest dream to see U2, and I recently decided that I absolutely want to see them on tour, then it's a logical decision to do whatever it takes to see them on this tour. Right? When I decided that I MUST see them, the choice really wasn't a choice in my mind, I had already decided.

So, pros and cons of this method.
Pros: Determination to get what I want (and I usually do get what I want). Dedication to see it through and find creative ways to make it happen. I save time by not thinking it out? Lol..
Cons: I assume that my knowledge is supreme, and any additional knowledge isn't necessary. I don't weigh the options and decide whether this is actually a good choice for me.

What do you think? Are there more pros and cons that I haven't thought of? (probably not because my knowledge is supreme... lol). Am I stubborn and self-absorbed to think/act this way, or is it a good thing to be determined to get what you want and find ways to make it happen?

  1. I'm glad i've found a kindred spirit, I do the same thing when there's something I know I want...I always knew we were friends for a reason...but if it's something that doesn't really matter I'm way too indicisive.
