You know what they say about Church Basketball...

For those of you who haven't heard, the Deibert clan got rocked last thursday. Ha ha, okay, Adam probably wouldn't appreciate me saying that he got rocked. I'll have you know, he went down in glory! Here's how it goes...

Thursday night, Adam participated in his much anticipated regularly scheduled church basketball game. Our ward's team is the bomb. We are undefeated, and sometimes, as many as 12 dudes will show up to play. The other wards in our stake usually struggle to get 4-5 people there to play. Anyway, he was in the middle of playing a real great game. He had the ball, traveled down the court at full speed, went up for a layup (and made it, mind you), got tripped, and his shoulder slammed into the brick wall (which is about 2 feet behind the hoop, and not padded). He was in a great deal of pain that night.

The best part of the story (besides the fact that he made the shot) is that I was there the whole time and was completely oblivious to what had happened. I made a new friend during the game, and she and I chatted it up (and had a great conversation!) the entire time. So at the nd of the game, I noticed that Adam was sitting on the side holding his arm... And then I saw the players from BOTH teams coming up to him to make sure he was okay. That was when I knew... Whoops, bad wife.

So we went to the instacare the next morning. Adam could hardly move, and was in real bad shape. He was 97.6% sure that he dislocated his shoulder, or maybe broke his collar bone or something. The doctor said the worst things which could have happened didn't. Whew! What did happen is that he tore a ligament in his shoulder which holds together the collar bone and a bone on the back of the shoulder. The doctor said there isn't anything which can be done, it's just going to be painful for about 4 weeks.

Adam has a splint now, but he seems to be recovering extremely quickly! He can do whatever he needs to with little pain. But I am amazed at how quickly he regains movement. He is very determined. He has a STRONG desire to be independent, and he also wants to heal quick so he can play in the region tournament in a few weeks.... Lol
